For the Love of Textiles

My fellow Artist in Crime Evelien and myself have had for years a studio together.  We used to got there every Wednesday to work on artwork for exhibitions. Over the last years it was hard for me to go there on Wednesday due to the illness of Bram. There were appointments in hospitals or other meetings or.. I was just to tired of everything and needed this day to recover. We have tried to work things out in another way, but it didn't  came out the way we wanted it. This spring we got a letter from the City Councel which said that the building was sold and that all artist had to go. A new building with studio's was organized, but we decided to give up the studio for a while.. Last Wednesday we went together to sort things out... Evelien had sorted out a big part already..which made things easier. I decided to take some pictures... So many things were made here... So many ideas have turned up.. Since I did start the goldsmithcourse I feel my creativity is coming back. My sketchbook is always in my bag, so when an idea turns up I immediately make a sketch or write it down. I feel those 2 hours really belong to me. When I was studying at artschool I always loved to try things out. Experimenting was a good thing for me to figure out my strong points. I am not very good in drawing or painting, but experimenting with materials, different kind of papers or textiles has taught me a lot. I am not afraid to start something new I don't know, and I have always an open mind and sight to see what is happening. Yes, I am the proud owner of a "Handmade by Me Silver Ring" . It was all pretty exiting this morning and my andrenaline went sky high. My ring had become in the stage of finishing. I needed to stamp a text in it..and the sentence was: LOVE IS ALL AROUND . A sentence with a few meanings for me such as: In my -and our- private life there is at the moment a lot of Love around us . This ring is Round  and I Love it. To have a Love Around in life is very important, and I have this for almost 30 years. So after figuering out where to stamp... It was time to get into Action...
