LOVE IS ALL AROUND...




Yes, I am the proud owner of a "Handmade by Me Silver Ring".

It was all pretty exiting this morning and my andrenaline went sky high.
My ring had become in the stage of finishing.
I needed to stamp a text in it..and the sentence was: LOVE IS ALL AROUND.
A sentence with a few meanings for me such as:
  1. In my -and our- private life there is at the moment a lot of Love around us.
  2. This ring is Round and I Love it.
  3. To have a Love Around in life is very important, and I have this for almost 30 years.
So after figuering out where to stamp...


It was time to get into Action...
Not easy to stamp this on this kind of roling pin which holds the ring.


And ofcourse I made a mistake..which Jeanette fixed for me..
And the text came..with some help and some extra bashing on the outside of the ring..


Next step....The PolishMachine...
And..
Action.. (Watch those Fabulous Glasses...

A shiney ring appeared..


And at the end...
A special technique had had to be done to get the letters black and more visible.
Forgot the name...must write down those kind of things..
And here is....





This design tells something about my personaliy. 
A big ring with a romantic text..

Next week: A New design. 
A bracelet. Big and Sturdy..
I think I will continue with this text idea...

      Hij is prachtig geworden, past heel goed bij je en juist dat die letters een beetje wiebelen geeft hem karakter en gevoel.

    Heel mooi; ik houd van de letters die niet allemaal op een lijn staan. Zoiets als breien met handgesponnen garen.

About Dutch Fishermans Ganseys..and a bit More..

In my previous post I promised to write about the just released book about Dutch Fisherman's Ganseys. Written by Stella Ruhe . In Dutch the title is:  Visserstruien uit 40 Nederlandse vissersplaatsen. There is an English translation with the title:  Dutch traditional ganseys. Sweaters from 40 vilages. (I couln't find it on Amazon, but there are some book(web)shops in Holland who also deliver all around the world.) For many years I had on my bookshelve the only book on Dutch Fisherman's ganseys. Written in 1983 by Henriëtte van der Klift-Tellingen. The book is printed in black and white, has many pictures from beautifulganseys in it, and it tells the history behind them. It is a good book, but the new book is better and more interesting. (but more about that book later in this post) I have never made a gansey for myself, but I have always been attracted to them.  Dutch ganseys (and the same is for English one's) tell a history from fishermen

Crushed by Jean Paul Gaultier....

Jean Paul Gaultier ..  My Hero when I studied Fashion at Art College. I remember buying the magazine Marie Claire Bis every season.. And in the where... The most spectaculair Desi gns by him.  This afternoon I found a map full of photo's with his designs from the time I studied Fashion Design. Combinations no one ever dreamed off.. Chiffon and lace Aprons... Old Models... Amazing adverts.. Guess he was -and still is- a big inspiration for Fashion students.. I remember that we had to make an illustration with silk paper and I used one of his designs. I have always kept it. At the moment De Kunsthal in Rotterdam shows the exhibition:  The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk I went yesterday..
