A Strange Experience Today...

This afternoon was the opening of the Exhibition "Rituelen" at the Stedelijk Museum in Zwolle.
My neighbour Ellen Korth was one of the participants of the exhibition. 
She has made that beautiful book with the title: Utilité. 
I have written a blogpost about that book which can be read HERE.

 I am in that book featured with a photo while I am knitting in our livingroom. 
It is a very good photo..

 Just before we went on holiday Ellen told me that that photo was chosen to be on the invitation and the poster of the exhibition. 
I was very pleased for her ofcourse, because I think that photo is very good and I shows me the way I am. Knitting in front of a painting.

 But...there was more to come....
At the entrance of the exhibition...

That is BIG...Really BIG...

 I had taken yarn and needles with me..
Forgot to change into that striped shirt..or...the stripes just went the other way...

 But...here am I knitting in front of...ME.

That is kind of Weird isn't it??

Next question is:

 What has he on the needles??
Just a simple scarf in stripes...
But in the most luxury yarn from Shilasdair I got from Evelien
How about a Cashmere/Angora/Lambswool blend next to 100% Silk cord??
All dyed with natural dyes..
Absolutely stunning to knit with..
Pictures will come when the scarf is done..

 The exhibtion itself shows also work by Jeanette Hoekstra as those "Conversation Pieces".
The shadow is an extra...

    Hartstikke leuk en het lijkt me ook een vreemde ervaring om jezelf levensgroot op een gevel te bewonderen. Wish dat ik even langs kon om het te bewonderen!

About Dutch Fishermans Ganseys..and a bit More..

In my previous post I promised to write about the just released book about Dutch Fisherman's Ganseys. Written by Stella Ruhe . In Dutch the title is:  Visserstruien uit 40 Nederlandse vissersplaatsen. There is an English translation with the title:  Dutch traditional ganseys. Sweaters from 40 vilages. (I couln't find it on Amazon, but there are some book(web)shops in Holland who also deliver all around the world.) For many years I had on my bookshelve the only book on Dutch Fisherman's ganseys. Written in 1983 by Henriëtte van der Klift-Tellingen. The book is printed in black and white, has many pictures from beautifulganseys in it, and it tells the history behind them. It is a good book, but the new book is better and more interesting. First Time...

Yesterday was my birthday. I have turned 55. It was strange to wake up alone after an evening full of tears before the morning. No one next to me to give me a kiss and a present, as I was used over the last 30 years. First time... there have been many "First Times" over the last months.  First time going to a party alone..and first time coming home alone after that party... First time going on holiday alone..and first time coming home alone... First time cooking a meal for me alone..and eating it alone....  (to tell you the truth..I hate cooking at the moment..and I used to love it..) First time sleeping alone in our double bed... First time telling people that he had passed away...(that still happens..) First time going to the market and realizing that you don't need that amount of oranges anymore.. And there are more...many more First Times... Living alone after living together for so long will take a lot of time to get used to it.....
