For the Love of Textiles

Yes, I have been neglecting my blog for weeks. Not that I didn't want to write, but there were just too much things happening and my mind was too busy to sit down and write about the things that were happening. During this time of the year my work is sometimes manic, or it feels like manic. There are visits to trainee's, exams, meetings etc. etc. It's every year like this and every year I am trying to do it different but it never works. Guess that is everywhere in the field of education because also my colleagues from other schools in Europe have the same experience. Maybe it has to do with getting older that it takes so much energy. Things I did easy years ago do take more energy now and it takes more time to recover. It is not complaining but it is a fact of going through different life stages. Not time sometimes can be not making time for things you want to do like writing my blog. Sometimes Time flies...Don't know what it is ..but getting older gives me the feeling that all days and weeks go faster than ever...or it might be the case that I am far too busy . I think it is the last one. My life sometimes is like a roller-coaster with ups and downs right behind each other. While writing this entry I am sitting and watching my students doing a test for Marketing. Not my favourite job..sittting and watching but every now and than I all teachers have to do it for a few hours. This afternoon I will be teaching a few hours at Higher Textile Education in the building next to us. I am going to show them lot's of pictures on Trends. How the appear historical and what will the be fashion trends for the coming seasons. Since last year I am teaching also some hours on this Institute and I like it very much. Students really are up for it and it gives me a lot of energy.But I am not sure if I would like to do this all week. My students at Medium Level are also very nic...

This morning I woke up much earlier than usually on Sunday.. 7.30 exactly..We had the plan to go to Groningen to visit our grandson.. but all night it had been snowing..and we decided not to go. It is freezing also so the roads can be difficult and we have a very small car. So hopefully next week. I had a quick look in our garden and..YES.. the world looked like a fairytale. I love snow because all shapes outside change. We had breakfast, I did some knitting and after that I made a long walk among the river Ijssel. I love that river deeply. 10 years ago when I had to stay home for 1 year because of a burn-out I walked everyday among the river. I watched birds and the change of seasons.It did calm me down and I have thrown a lot of sadness into that river. I like streaming water. It can take with it your sorrow and pain.
