Hankies on a Birthdayparty.....

Last Saturday our Dear Friend Janneke did celebrate her 70's Birthday. She lives opposite of our house and I offered her to help her little with the party. A little vintage...done with things I and she had...and the celebration took place in a beautiful secluded garden behind her  appartment.

So I did cut out loads of triangles from leftover fabrics to make a lot of bunting which I did hang on on rope using very tiny pegs. 
I even made some special ones for her...




I had to do this on Friday because it took a lot of time...and a lot of pegs too... 
The weather was not good that day but everything survived the wind a rain..
Saturday became a glorious and sunny day..A day to remember with joy..
There were very tasty Cakes...

The BirthdayGirl ofcourse...looking GREAT..




Lots of Friends....

And all Guests got a special hankerchief made by me when they came through the entrance..

And Janneke got a special one, printed on a vintage piece...



Hankerchiefs....I have a soft spot for hankerchiefs...

    Wat een ongelofelijk mooi en kleurrijk feest zal dat geweest zijn. Veel voorbereiding maar dan heb je ook wat!!!
    Schitterend om zo'n mooie gebeurtenis,op zo'n wijze te vieren. Met vrienden en familie. Op zo'n mooie plek.
    Iets om nog lang van na te genieten.

About Dutch Fishermans Ganseys..and a bit More..

In my previous post I promised to write about the just released book about Dutch Fisherman's Ganseys. Written by Stella Ruhe . In Dutch the title is:  Visserstruien uit 40 Nederlandse vissersplaatsen. There is an English translation with the title:  Dutch traditional ganseys. Sweaters from 40 vilages. (I couln't find it on Amazon, but there are some book(web)shops in Holland who also deliver all around the world.) For many years I had on my bookshelve the only book on Dutch Fisherman's ganseys. Written in 1983 by Henriëtte van der Klift-Tellingen. The book is printed in black and white, has many pictures from beautifulganseys in it, and it tells the history behind them. It is a good book, but the new book is better and more interesting. (but more about that book later in this post) I have never made a gansey for myself, but I have always been attracted to them.  Dutch ganseys (and the same is for English one's) tell a history from fishermen

Crushed by Jean Paul Gaultier....

Jean Paul Gaultier ..  My Hero when I studied Fashion at Art College. I remember buying the magazine Marie Claire Bis every season.. And in the where... The most spectaculair Desi gns by him.  This afternoon I found a map full of photo's with his designs from the time I studied Fashion Design. Combinations no one ever dreamed off.. Chiffon and lace Aprons... Old Models... Amazing adverts.. Guess he was -and still is- a big inspiration for Fashion students.. I remember that we had to make an illustration with silk paper and I used one of his designs. I have always kept it. At the moment De Kunsthal in Rotterdam shows the exhibition:  The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk I went yesterday.. I had doubts ofcourse because Bram is so weak.. But the nurses told me to go.. Neighbours took care.. Jochum came and stayed the whole afternoon..
